I’m not giving up podcasting, but after 5 years, I’ve decided that PCP#336 will be the last show. I’ve really enjoyed the diversity of music I’ve played since Jan 30th 2006 and worked with some amazing musicians. You can still listen to The Dub Zone or The Dub Step Zone for regular infusions of fantastic music.
Maybe I’ll come back in 2011 with a new show from the Podcast Factory? In the meantime, thanks for listening, thanks for contributing and thanks for supporting independent music.
Shocked I am, Mr C. But all good things, etc… Congrats on your long run and the incredible impact you’ve had on the world of music podcasting. Long may it continue with your other shows.
Thanks for all your hard work. Glad to hear you’ll keep blazing the Dub Zone!
PCP was a slice of home when I was fed up and thousands of miles away. It may actually have saved at least some of my sanity 😉
I had some fun digging out clips, and warping a few images for it, and you inspired me to have a go myself, while I had the time.
Oh, and there was some pretty good music in there too – its not everyone that manages to dig up and play Cornish Bagpipe Dub Reggae.
Thanks Pete!
It has been a pleasure and an honour, sir.
Blimey Codge. That’s out of left-field!
There are times when each of us loses focus or the motivation slips a bit. For me, PCP has always provided the inspiration that’s needed to get back up and hunt out the good stuff. Thanks mate. It is truly appreciated.
Even this week I was hearing tracks on the show and wondering if I could get away with an SnC “second play”. Your uncanny knack (or perhaps in your case it’s “Canny, why aye and aye” knack) for finding the weird and wonderful in the same track is an inspiration. PCP will leave a large hole in the promotion of thoroughly deserving independent music.
PCP has served the music well and I, as one of many, hope that you’ll bring it back at some point.
In the mean time, if you do happen to stumble upon something that deserves wider attention, I’m bloody sure I can find a home for it. Although you should expect that I’ll probably chalk it up as a first play!
Thanks again mate, for the friendship, the music and the always excellent abuse.
Speak soon,
Kid
Pete,
I am gobsmacked, a real pity to see you cancel PCP.
I know it can be hard work, but onwards and upwards they say, I’m sure you’ll get into something even better.
Will we still see you at Podcrawls?
Keep in touch.
R.
It’s nice to read such nice words, but many of you know I’ve been considering this for some time.
Two things to consider:-
1. I may well be back with a “Better than PCP” show in 2011…..
2. I have 4 fantastic “Best of PCP” shows to come
And it’s not like I’m dropping off the radar…… I mean, would I do that to you?
Codge
You see in my hectic schedule it’s often hard to find the time to put some music on, so most of the time I don’t listen to anything. When the time is right, on goes PCP, usually so I can catch up on the last 10 shows or so. I think my record is listening to 25 shows in one go, and the only problem then was I needed to go home. Oh and I had sweaty ears.
I think I may have accused you in the past of being personally responsible for the level of bacteria in my ears.
Anyway, quickly moving on…. This is a shame, to echo the always more eloquent comments above. PCP has introduced me to music that I otherwise would be completely oblivious to. I’ve even purchased actual CDs while listening to the track you played.
I know after such a long run there was a call to do something new, so I await that new thingyme. There remains an astonishing amount of seriously good musical talent that needs to be played, and I fear that we just lost another beacon/tower/battlestation.
Let’s see what 2011 brings. I look forward to seeing the new PCP. Maybe we can start guessing names, such as Codgers Cast or Live from Lindfield.
Anyway Pete, stay cool and stay different. Talking of which, have you seen that new Volvo that looks suspicially like a Saab…….
