I got this email from the Internet Archive today. All of my podcast media files are stored as Creative Commons Licensed files are the Internet Archive.  Like many online resources they are being used rather more than usual because of the Coronavirus Pandemic. But The internet Archive is not a big corporation – it’s funded by donations.

If you like what I do and you have a few [Pounds|Dollars|Euros|etc] to spare then please consider donating below!

Thanks

Pete

Dear Pete,

In a crisis that affects everyone, ordinary people and small gestures of generosity make all the difference. As a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, individuals and communities around the world are celebrating Giving Tuesday Now—an unprecedented spring event meant to build global giving and unity, help charities get through these turbulent times, and allow citizens everywhere to lend a hand.

Because the Internet Archive never charges for access and doesn’t accept ads, we rely on donations like yours to help us pay for staff and servers—but we’re facing more user traffic right now than ever before. We’re thankful to have a community that supports us in times of trouble; your contributions in the past have helped us make a difference in lives all over the world. If you’re able to show your support again today, we would greatly appreciate your generosity.

If you’ve recently given—or if you’re unable to make a contribution during these difficult times—there are other ways you can make a difference today! Since so many of us are short of time, energy, or funds right now, we’ve compiled a list of ways that you can show your support without making a direct donation, leaving your home, or spending more than a few minutes lending a hand. Every little bit counts, and simply spreading the word or tweaking your online shopping habits can make a big difference!

Last but not least, a great way to celebrate Giving Tuesday Now is just by engaging with the nonprofits you love. At the Internet Archive, our goal is to provide useful services to the general public—which means you. So if you’re looking for educational resources for distance learning, or want something to do to help keep you sane during quarantine, or even just need to read a really good book right now, we’re here for you.

DIVE IN

Thanks for supporting us and our goal of Universal Access to All Knowledge. We hope that you make the most of your local digital library during these difficult times.

Stay safe, and enjoy the archive!
